For the sixth consecutive year, TanzWerkstatt Berlin is putting on the KÖRPERSTIMMEN series together with Podewil. This year’s program offers a fascinating impression of current work being produced in Germany, complemented by three choreographies by the shooting star of the London dance scene, Akram Khan. The series places the spotlight on newcomers working on a high esthetic level, current work of artists whose development TanzWerkstatt has been following for a period of time, and projects by artists-in-residence at Podewil. Cooperation with international partners and initiating co-productions are two important goals in this undertaking.
After the extraordinary success of "pigg in hell" at the international dance festival Tanz im August 2000, Michael Laub’s piece, a collaboration with the young performer Astrid Endruweit, will be presented again as part of the series.
As is the case every year, the various artists exhibit very different approaches, and yet all the work shown as part of KÖRPERSTIMMEN shares a common element: the human body as starting point and center of theatrical narratives. And as usual, the particular performing situation at Podewil creates a uniquely intimate, direct atmosphere.
