After their very successful production last year at Tanztage Berlin, TWO FISH address their disappointment in electronic information which is often confused with personal communication. The ego and its various points of intersection are central themes for choreographer Angela Schubot and actor Martin Clausen: the contradictions, conceptions, encounters, and battlegrounds inherent in the perception of the self. TWO FISH are artists-in-residence 2003 at Podewil.
"We're interested in how the intersectivity of the human personality shapes us. Who do I consist of, what ghosts are present in me and what does that make "me" into? What effect does the discrepancy between my unconscious and conscious images of myself have? And what are the implications of this for the images I have of other people, groups, and external contexts? What conflicts arise when the rhythm or structure of my concepts of reality are changed through encounters with others, and what defenses do I enlist against such changes? What defense mechanisms do I have at the ready for such a case? Who do I have to thank for them?" TWO FISH |

Angela Schubot trained as a dancer in Berlin and has worked with Joseph Tmim, Norbert Kliesch, Cora Frost, Iztok Kovac, and Constanza Macras. She choreographed her pieces, "chrzazcz" and "cut out scars", while she was still training; both were shown at Tanztage Berlin.
Martin Clausen works with the independent theater groups, Nico and the Navigators and Lubricat, as well as with the directors, Ingrid Hammer and Lajos Talamonti. Clausen showed four of his short pieces ("Zapping to Algeria und zurück", "Komposthaufengranulat", "Dein Glück ist kein Glück, dein Glück ist Pech", and "Kenn ich nicht, wasch ich nicht oder Du Arsch ist schneller gesagt als Sie Arsch") at the Berlin Festival of Theater Students, "neuropolis." Clausen studied cultural and theater studies at Humboldt University in Berlin from 1995 to 1998. He completed his training as a teacher for F.M. Alexander Technik in March 2002.
On the piece, "Christiane Müller, Gabriel-Max-Str. 2, 1.OG links (2002)": "It was a marvel that is actually almost impossible to describe. [...] What exactly was it? I don't know. But there's one thing I do know: It was fantastic." (Joachim Kramarz)
"Angela Schubot and Martin Clausen showed a stroke of genius during the recent Tanztage Berlin at sophiensaele." (zitty, 02/2002) |
