Why we like dancing
Why we like watching dance
Why we like to show ourselves dancing
How those pleasures are interdependent
The dancers pleasure in dancing is infectious (provokes desire to move and produces the experience of sensual sharing). The dancers exhibitionism feeds from the audiences voyeurism and conversely. The pleasure in doing a particular movement involves an intellectual satisfaction related to what it evokes, represents.
There is a link to study between the dancers pleasure and that of the audience, which doesnt lay in projection only but as well in the interpersonal relation, e.g. seduction. Both phenomena constitute an important part of the happiness about taking part in a dance performance, an affirmation of what human exchange can be on a generous base, an economy of attention framed by desire and gift: an audience giving time and focus and performers offering a proposal to be shared. |

Born 1978 in Grenoble, she studies at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Lyon" and receives upon graduating the state scholarship which helps her complete her education in New York at the Trisha Brown Studios. Besides her activity as a dancer for various choreographers (Felix Ruckert, Saskia Hölbling), she founds in 2001 her own company, mkf, for which she creates along with Sebastien Cormier the duet "if-then", followed in 2002 by the solo "oslo" and 2003 by the performance "a?" in collaboration with Roland Seidel and Alice Chauchat.
Alice Chauchat lives in Paris. Born in 1977 in Saint-Etienne (France), she studied at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Lyon" and at P.A.R.T.S., Brussels. With founding members of the collective B.D.C. Tom Plischke, Martin Nachbar and Hendrik Leavens, she creates "events for television" and "affects and (re)sort". In 2001 she presents her first solo "quotation marks me". Study follows then the duets, and in 2003, "a number of classics in the age of performance", a collaboration with Vera Knolle.
