| The third dramaturgy lab will take place in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Gabriele Brandstetter and the Institut für Bewegungsforschung at FU Berlin. Representatives of practice and theory will meet for informal talks to discuss new dramaturgical approaches and formats in dance and choreography. The title “Dramaturgie auf Probe” is a play on the multiple meanings of the German word “Probe” which can mean “rehearsal”, “test” and “trial”, among other things; the point of departure is a concept of dramaturgy as a strategy that is realized in rehearsals and is constantly put to the test. In the same way that different choreographic concepts demand different ways of working, the dramaturgy lab explores which processes, methods, and forms of collaboration between choreographer and dramaturge can work. |

Over three Saturdays during the festival, three distinct interventions will take place with an artist, architect and historian focusing on the creation of spaces for artistic production and presentation. Linking practice to theory and history, these meetings will explore various concepts of place making, theatre / studio design and the geography of contemporary performance environments as sites for the renegotiation of the body within scenographic and architectural terms. Talks, walks, discussions, films.
Paul Gazzola (Berlin / Perth) is involved in creating choreography as well as multimedia installations and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in architecture. |
